The Citizen and the Establishment

About The Book

The book offers the reader two new perspectives on interactions between the people (civilians/non civilians) and the state. First it suggests a typology of five options that people can choose in response to an establishment policy (central Government institution management). The options are: separatism indifference identity protest and violence. Second it analyses three cases studies from three countries (Egypt Bolivia Burkina Faso) where protest against an incumbent regime came from security forces. This is not a military coup but a protest establishment contrary to what is commonly accepted in the research scholarly that the source of the protest is outside the establishment. Both sections has a combination of theory and practice.
