The Clearing at Portree Bend

<p>The summer of 1958 was hot and humid as usual for eastern North Carolina. In the woods near his home twelve-year-old Mark Billings sat in the clearing that was his refuge. Suddenly he realized that his private hideout had been transformed into a most enchanted and powerful place that pulsed with a kind of life that was both thrilling and terrifying.</p><p></p><p>In the clearing Mark his two older siblings and their two first cousins will be given unusual powers.
