The colonial school and the political promotion of Congolese women

About The Book

The study was devoted to assessing the impact of Belgian colonial education policy on the political advancement of women in Kisangani. The city of Kisangani was equipped with school infrastructures for the schooling of girls in the sector of activities that did not interest political decision making during the colonial period. They served as a starting point for the training of the female elite is the center of reflection not only for women and men but also a strategy to boost feminist policies after independence. Thus if at the national level in addition to role models feminist associations have allowed women trained in the colonial era to influence their political advancement and followers in Kisangani a particular emphasis must be placed on women leaders who have held political positions and others working in the public sector. The women of Kisangani who are politically promoted and those who aspire to such promotion take some women beneficiaries of colonial training as a reference.
