Along the way she encounters traditional Haitian foods artisans and learns the deeper meaning behind the colors of the Haitian flag: blue symbolizing hope and unity and red representing the bloodshed for freedom.</span></p><p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Through her encounters with  historical figures like Jean Jacques Dessalines Biarha gains a profound understanding of Haiti's journey to independence. By the end of the parade Biarha's initial reluctance transforms into pride and appreciation for her Haitian heritage as she realizes the significance of honoring and celebrating Haiti's remarkable history and culture.</span></p>
