In this book the author examines social distancing as a public health strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic in Kinshasa. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach that combines cross-sectional and phenomenological analyses the study evaluates the relationship between adherence to social distancing protocols and other preventive behaviors as framed by the Health Belief Model (HBM). Additionally it explores the personal experiences of social distancing within the community context of Kinshasa between March and April 2022.The book is organized into several chapters that cover the background theoretical framework research methodology data analysis and conclusions. This book is innovative in its combination of quantitative adherence assessments with qualitative phenomenological insights offering a thorough understanding of the challenges in implementing and experiencing social distancing as a health measure within an urban community-dependent setting.
