In this article we have traced the history of constitutional jurisdiction in the DRC from its independence in 1960 through the various Constitutions that provided for it although it was not installed until 1967 when it was replaced by the CSJ. The Constitution of February 18 2006 reintroduced the Constitutional Court into the Congolese legal system. However the Constitutional Court is quite different from other constitutional courts around the world in that it includes a public prosecutor's office. In addition to the fact that it is the natural jurisdiction of the Head of State and the Prime Minister it also has other powers. We have also drawn up tables showing the various judges who have passed through this high court.Another important aspect is the fact that the Court has extended some of its powers to cover fundamental rights and freedoms notably certain acts of deliberative assemblies and judicial decisions that are not subject to appeal.
