The Construction of Female Characters in Immigration Novels from Rio Grande do Sul

About The Book

This work analyses the construction of the characters Frida (Frida Meyer - 1924) and Lore (A River imitates the Rhine - 1939) from the perspective of cultural gender studies establishing relationships between fictional and historical discourses. The approach seeks to highlight the discursive resources used by the narrators which allowed them to create a portrait of the Germanic woman who represented the process of immigration and colonisation in Rio Grande do Sul.
