Beginning as a critique of the modern culture of performance the book takes an observational journey towards understanding the weightlessness and effortlessness seen in elite-level movement. At the center of the book is the sometimes unnoticed relationship between language and movement and their influence on the concept of beauty itself. Eventually it becomes clear that to experience and understand beautiful performance one needs to have the language to identify it; with the appropriate language in hand one can deconstruct and recreate movements-granting themselves the experience of beauty itself. By making language and movement symmetrical the equation that produces beautiful performance becomes simplified making the art of self-expression more accessible to anyone. Ultimately this book exists to inspire the curious person to discover and play with the cosmic gift of ever-lasting performance for themselves-granting the permission to exercise boundless creativity with language and movement.
