The Crew

<p>A coming of age story of five girls who come togather to work on a harvest crew. L.E. Martin has run harvest crews for years. He is unable to hire a crew because of the oil boom and the money they pay.  He hires an all girls crew since men and boys are in the oil field. He soon learns the girls are hard workers.They however are different. He only sees workers and not two black girls who have never been on a farm. The two white girls who have grown up on a farm or the young girl who has had a troubled past. He expects them to work and they do. The girls will learn to come togather in the face of fear of a tornado that threatens their life. The tragedy that will affect them all when one of the crew is in a serious accident. The summer of hard work long hours will prepare them for life they soon face with joy and disapointments. They will always be the crew. </p>
