The cultural phenomenon of the telenovela in Venezuela

In Venezuela the telenovela is an important communicational product that for years defined daily life ways of relating and became one of the most profitable industries in the local economy. Its influence marked political and social moments of several generations and ceased to be a minor product within culture to position itself as a creation that transcended social scales and seduced intellectuals and captive audiences alike. Hence the importance of reviewing one of the most effective expressions of mass culture in Latin America: the telenovela.
