In 1999 a symposium was held in Kazanluk and Septemvri in Bulgaria in honour of Mieczyslaw Domaradzki. Its subject was the archaeological material and textual evidence for Thracian culture in prehistory as well as during the Greek colonisation and Hellenistic periods. This volume presents over forty contributions from that symposium in which specialists focus on: settlement investigations and structures; burial customs; cult places; Thracians and their Neighbours; and the project to create an archaeological map of Bulgaria. Papers discuss ceramic evidence metal finds structural remains environmental evidence tombs human and animal burials cult sites coins and other finds from a wide range of sites with particular emphasis on the emporion of Pistiros and Koprivlen. The majority of contributions are in English.
