The Cumberland Drinking Society was formed on 17 April 1746 by the Duke of Cumberland to celebrate the victory at Culloden and ultimately defeat the Jacobite rebellion of 1745-46.It was created the same evening after the kill All order was issued to the government troops in the morning.
