THE CURRENT DEMOCRATIC DYNAMIC

The thesis of the philosopher-king because it subjects political action to the possession of an art that of governance was presented as anti-democratic. It is undeniable that Plato in formulating this thesis in the Athenian political context of the 5th century presented it as such. However the socio-political context is no longer the same. From Athens to the present day democracy has evolved enormously in the direction of its improvement. And there is much to suggest that our democratic model is strongly inspired by the government advocated by Plato.
