اللعنة-The Curse

تتنقّل الكاتبة السوريّة سها مصطفى بين محطّات سياسيّة ودينيّة من التاريخ الإسلامي. وهي، وإن كانت تركّز على السلطنة العثمانيّة، إلّا أنها تعود أيضًا إلى محطّات مهمة من الخلافة والدول الإسلامية: الأمويّة والعباسيّة والمملوكية، تحمل سمات متشابهة أبرزها النزعة الطاردة لبعض الأقليّات. كذلك تعود إلى ماضٍ أبعد بعد، إذ تستعين بمراجع شعريّة ودينية وتاريخيّة، بعضها من الإرث الحضاري السابق للأديان السماوية.في رحلتها الزمنية هذه، تفتّت الكاتبة هالة التاريخ الصلبة، من خلال شخصيّتين أساسيّتين تنتميان إلى حقبتين مختلفتين: حمامة التي تولد في الريف السوري بداية القرن الماضي، بينما تحمل ندوباً من حياةٍ سابقة شهدت خلالها مجازر العثمانيين الدمويّة بحقّ العلويين في حلب، إلى أن قُتِلت في مجزرة التلال سنة 1514. ورميا، الجارية في قصر السلطان العثماني سليم الأوّل القاطع الذي قاد تلك المجازر.هكذا تتقاطع السيرتان. امرأتان تواجهان القيود والمصائر المفروضة على العباد، وخصوصاً النساء منهم، وتقدّمان حياتيهما قرباناً للحريّة والتمرّد، فتدفعان أثماناً باهظة لقاء قناعاتهما.Syrian writer Suha Mustafa navigates through political and religious stations of Islamic history. While focusing on the Ottoman Empire she also revisits significant stages of the caliphate and Islamic states: the Umayyad Abbasid and Mamluk all characterized by a similar tendency to repel certain minorities. Additionally she delves into a more distant past drawing on poetic religious and historical references some from the cultural heritage preceding the Abrahamic religions.In this chronological journey Mustafa dismantles the rigid historical aura through two main characters from different eras: Hamama born in the Syrian countryside at the beginning of the last century bearing scars from a previous life that witnessed the Ottoman bloody massacres against the Alawites in Aleppo until her death in the massacre of the hills (Al-Tilal) in 1514 and Ramya a female bondservant in the palace of the Ottoman Sultan Selim I (Al-Qate') who led those massacres.Thus the two narratives intersect. Two women confronting the constraints and destinies imposed on the people especially women sacrificing their lives for freedom and rebellion and paying a hefty price for their convictions.
