Every time she closed her eyes she saw Vincent's face his grotesque painted smile burned into her mind.

And the voice. It wouldn't stop. It had started as a whisper a faint echo of Vincent's words but now it was louder more insistent like he was trying to crawl into her mind and take control.

You know I'm still here Rachel. You know you can't fight it.

She squeezed her eyes shut pressing her hands over her ears as if that would block him out. But nothing worked. He was inside her now his voice entwined with her thoughts and the more she tried to push him away the stronger he seemed to grow.

It was as though he was waiting for something-waiting for her to break.

Rachel sat up abruptly her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't stay here not like this. The walls of her bedroom felt like they were closing in on her suffocating her. She had to get out had to clear her head. Maybe the fresh air would help give her some distance from Vincent's voice from the creeping madness.

She threw on a jacket and slipped out the front door her feet carrying her down the quiet streets of the town. It was late and everything was still. The wind rustled through the trees the only sound in the eerie silence. But even out here Rachel couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched.

Vincent was always watching.
