About The Book

Sgt. Freddie Brown served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 - 1971 directly after high school graduation. He spent two tours of duty in the Vietnam War from 1965 - 1967 and 1969 - 1970. For his military service he received among other awards two Purple Hearts. After being honorably discharged in 1971 Sgt. Brown reached fame in the 1970-80s as a vocalist for the Baltimore-based R&B band First Class. His singing career culminated with his dream of singing with the world-famous Drifters.
