Benjamin Newton (1762-1830) was Rector of Wath in the early nineteenth century and the tutor and close friend of Charles Budenell-Bruce the first Marquis of Ailesbury. This book originally published in 1933 contains his diaries from 1816 to 1818 in which he records the daily duties of a clergyman in this period.
