This book unravels the history of the Shangwe people and how they were displaced and marginalized by the immigrants (Vabvakure) from other regions of Zimbabwe and the massive effects of the gazzeting of the Mapfungautsi Forest area by the Forest Commission in 1954. The research unearthed that the Shangwe were displaced socially economically and politically. The shangwe faced both direct and indirect displacement. However despite being prone various forms of displacements the Shangwe norms values customs and traditional practices have remained intact.
