It is a narrative of her arduous yet highly rewarding trek to Kailash Mansarovar in the company of some forty men and womenyoung and old about thirty years ago. The writer and her husband together planned the visit but alashe died shortly thereafter. Nevertheless she made up her mind and applied to the authorities for permission to be included in one of the groups for the journey. About the Author: Sarbari Bhattacharya comes from a family of educated minds growing up among whom she found her love for letters early in life. After her schooling at Holy Child Auxilium School in New Delhi where she spent her childhood she went on to earn her master’s in English literature from the University of Calcutta following an honours degree from Lady Brabourne College.An English proficiency course from the Central Institute of English and Foreign Language (CIEFL) Hyderabad and a Creative Writing Course from IGNOU New Delhi are also part of her academic panoply.Miss Bhattacharya is an accomplished singer with a degree in Hindustani Classical Music (vocal) to back up her natural gifted voice. She works with the Government of West Bengal as a senior officer of the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) cadre which she joined in 1989.
