During fifteenth and sixteenth centuries magic had a great influence on the life of individuals and especially on their religious beliefs as religion served economic and political ideologies until the eighteenth century. This study explores the similarities and differences between the character of Dr. Faustus the protagonist and Dr. Stockmann the main character of Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People. It also considers the factors surrounding them that change the ideologies of the two characters in terms of social religious and political aspects and attitudes toward society.
