The Economic Perspective of EU's Association with the South Caucasus

This study analyses the economic perspective of EU’s Association namely the Association Agreement (AA) and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) perspective of the South Caucasus (SC) countries. The AA and DCFTA have been projected to integrate the SC countries much more to the EU and its norms in both political and economic dimensions through the fulfillment of its vital provisions based on the values stated in the ENP and EaP. Albeit the economic complexities and security challenges forge it intractable to deem the way of European integration in those countries still there is a room to bring the SC countries closer to the EU. Therefore this study is important to determine the rationale behind the political process and the economic substance of DCFTA with the SC countries which is a central part of the AA of EaP. It is expected that this work will find its place among other studies providing the analysis of the economic perspective of EU policy in the SC region since the economic perspective of AA/DCFTA is still not widely analysed.
