THE EDUCATION PLAN

This book examines the delivery of education toSupport Services staff at New Vista Society (NVS) along-term care facility. The author answers thequestion: what are the educational needs of SupportServices staff and how can a system of near missreporting be implemented thereby creating continuedopportunities for learning?The research establishes the application of heutagogy(self-determined learning) capacity development andgroup education processes to ensure learning for aunionized group of staff. Further the researchestablishes the need for knowledge management systemsto ensure near misses traditionally associated witherror are recreated as opportunities for learning.Key to the findings are the need to plan scheduleand provide educational opportunities. By supportingthe development of meaningful educational systems anemployer will foster the capacity of Support Servicesstaff to provide necessary services for residents.
