The effects of Citizen Participation on local government performance was conducted to explore the effects and relationship between citizen participation and district performance in Local government of Rwanda with Rwamagana district as a case study. Most of the assessments were largely quantitative they didn''t provide enough clarification on the effects of citizen participation and performance contract in Rwandan local government. The population of the study was made of adult’s residents in 9 sectors of Rwamagana District with a total samples of ninety-seven respondents were selected. The overall objective of this study is to examine and assess the effects and correlations between citizen participation and district performance. Specifically this study seeks to analyse to which extent citizen’s participation contribute to district performance. The findings revealed that there is close relationship between citizen participation and district performance in Rwanda there is a close relationship between active citizen participation and district performance since citizen participation empowers and increases ownership and people’s voice and contributes to organisational performance.
