The Enchiridion

The Enchiridion is a short handbook of Stoic philosophy written by the ancient Greek philosopher Epictetus. The title Enchiridion means handbook in Greek and the work is also sometimes referred to as The Manual or The Handbook of Epictetus. The book is a compilation of Epictetus teachings and it is structured as a series of maxims and aphorisms that cover a wide range of topics including ethics morality personal conduct and the nature of the world. The central message of the book is that individuals can attain inner peace and happiness by learning to control their own thoughts and emotions rather than trying to control external circumstances.
