About The Book

This remarkable compilation includes four works. The Prince, The Art of War, Livy's Discourses, and Florence's History. The Prince (Il Principe), written in 1513, by Niccol di Bernardo dei Machiavelli, an Italian Renaissance diplomat, philosopher, and writer, is his best-known work. He is frequently referred to as the founder of contemporary political science or philosophy. Machiavelli's name came to be associated with dishonest politicians of the kind he memorably counselled in The Prince. Machiavelli viewed political struggles as a game with set rules, rather than through the prism of morality. His encounters had taught him that politics has always been a game of deceit, betrayal, and crime. Additionally, he made the noteworthy claim that a ruler who is constructing a kingdom or a republic and is being condemned for his actions.
