About The Book

About the Book: In recent years, the use of finite element analysis as a powerful tool in which is mainly used for simulation, modelling, analysis and design of real time problems and it has grown rapidly. The finite element analysis is a way to simulate different loading conditions on a design and determine its response. Many scientists and research scholars now use the paradigms of finite element tool to tackle problems that are either intractable or unrealistically. By using the computer terminal it is possible to analyse a number of different geometric operating condition, without the need of building a physical prototype. Easy to use comprehensive packages such as ANSYS, a general-purpose finite element computer program, have become common research and simulation tools in the hands of design engineers. Unfortunately, many electrical engineers who lack the proper training material or understanding of the underlying concepts have been using these tools. This manual is prepared to assist under graduate and post graduate electrical engineering students and practicing engineers new to the field of finite element modelling to gain a clear understanding basic engineering concepts. The contents offers insight into the fundamental aspects and route-map of finite element analysis and also cover some practical approach of rotating machine modelling using ANSYS. Nevertheless enough hands-on background is offered to allow individuals to use intelligently and efficiently. ANSY is an integral part of this technical note. About the Author’s: K. Vijayakumar received the B.E. degree from the Annamalai University, India, in 1998, M.E. degree from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, India, in the year of 2001 and Ph.D degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Guindy College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, India, in 2014.
