The Focus Construction in Sinhala

The book is a detailed investigation of the focus/cleft construction of Sinhala. Though its main concern is the Cleft Construction in Sinhala the scope extends to such other areas as different types of focus the relation between focus and Wh mood/modality markers and functional heads and the structure of the left periphery of the Sinhala clause.It also examines how the morpho-syntactic phenomena interact with the discourse related focus phenomena thereby highlighting the interface character of the topics covered in the book.
