The framework of artificial intelligence at the European level

Artificial intelligence is by definition an innovative subject. This book will focus on the importance of establishing a European legal framework around artificial intelligence. In this context the European Union has been relatively late in becoming aware of the issue. As the competences in the field of artificial intelligence are for the time being devolved to the Member States it now wishes to take up this subject in accordance with the principle of subsidiarity. Indeed it seems more relevant to act at this level. The European Union therefore aims to distinguish itself by creating an ethical approach to artificial intelligence. In addition to this ambition it is important to bear in mind that many existing European legislations hinder the emergence of this innovation which therefore creates multiple paradoxes.It is also a question of understanding the way in which the European Union is trying to take hold of this innovation with important stakes. Who are the real players? What are the skills that are being highlighted? Is this commitment not too ambitious?
