About The Book

A British poet author and political activist named Wilfrid Scawen Blunt wrote the book The Future of Islam in the 19th century. The book examines how Islam fits into contemporary society and makes future projections. In the political social and cultural panorama of the globe Blunt contends that Islam is a potent force that cannot be disregarded. Blunt does agree that there are many difficulties for Islam notably in the face of Western imperialism and colonialism. He contends that Muslims must figure out how to adjust to these changes while preserving their cultural and religious practices. According to Blunt the advent of new technology the rise of nationalism the expansion of Western influence and other factors will all have an impact on the direction of Islam in the future. According to him Islam will still play a big role in the world but in order to stay relevant it will need to develop new strategies for responding to these changes and adapting to them. The book The Future of Islam raises interesting questions and provides insights into the possibilities and problems that the Muslim world is experiencing. Many of Blunts observations and forecasts even those made more than a century ago are still true today and continue to influence how we see Islam and its role in the world.
