The integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has significantly transformed contemporary society by facilitating fundamental tasks and processes. In education these technologies have introduced innovative methodologies and reshaped the teaching-learning process. The English curriculum of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education (2016) stresses the importance of preparing individuals to face global challenges. Gamification has emerged as a prominent influence in education especially in Latin America where its impact on vocabulary acquisition and student motivation is investigated. This study focuses on its application as an educational tool for teaching English employing a qualitative and descriptive approach supported by academic sources. The results highlight a comfortable and fun learning environment that fosters greater student engagement improves content comprehension and reduces student anxiety.
