Born to a verbally abusive and alcoholic mother Darlene Graves was also hindered by crippled feet and poor eyesight. Her mother called her stupid and her classmates made fun of her odd-looking shoes. Life it seems had gotten off to a very rocky start. Then even though she completed her education got a job got married and had children Darlene unknowingly became codependent becoming her children's worst enemy.
