The Gathering at Gethsemane

About The Book

In an innovative novel yet realistic depiction. The Gathering at Gethsemane imagines a chosen group of eleven African American ministers coming together for a day-long conference in which they discuss and debate with passion and biblical authority the challenges of American racism sexism African American division and a host of other political and social issues that clergy wrestle with on a daily only to find talk is their only solution. As the story unfolds the issues are not only with America but with personal pain and hidden hurt that clergy often suffer from in silence. Each minister begins to reveal his/her own dilemmas and personal flaws which causes even more commotion amongst the clergy. Jesus at Gethsemane wrestled with the flesh; the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Gethsemane is where the flesh can sometimes speak louder than the spirit. The end of the story leaves readers shocked and amazed which suggests we all have our Gethsemane moments.
