The Gender Asymmetry of Politics

Gender asymmetry in politics characterizes the inequality of socio-political positions and statuses of men and women. In the monograph this phenomenon is analyzed through the study of a complex of semantic meanings: asymmetry as an unequal number of men and women in the sphere of political decision-making; difference in institutional opportunities which promote men and women in politics; unequal historically established evaluation of the value of their political activity. The author pays special attention to the study of the development and scientific potential of gender political science the methodology of which allows interpreting gender asymmetry as a mismatch of practical The possibility of eliminating the contradiction outlined above is presented in the book through proposing practical recommendations for promoting the principle of gender equality in Russian politics.
