During his military career besides the combat engineers he also served in challenging assignments with the Military Engineering Service and the Border Roads Organization. Known for his clear vision sense of purpose and hard work he made a difference in every assignment where he was posted.After retirement from the Army he was picked up as the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab on infrastructure. He served two political governments in continuity for over 11 years which speaks for itself. He was conferred the ‘Golden Peacock Award’ on Ecological Innovation in 2007and the ‘Engineer of the Year Award’ by the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and Pacific (FEIAP) at Singapore in 2011; he was the first Indian to be honored with this Award.Widely travelled and a keen sportsman who has excelled in Rowing he has been Executive Vice President of both the Yachting Association of India and of the Rowing Federation of India. He is a qualified deep-sea diver and an avid environmentalist focusing on eco-friendly activities renewable sources of energy recycling and conservation of water resources. He is now settled in Chandigarh.
