About The Book

The story is set in the late 19th century and follows the adventures of Allan Quatermain the recurring protagonist in many of Haggards novels. In The Ghost Kings Quatermain travels to Africa along with his companions Sir Henry Curtis and Captain John Good. Their journey takes them to the land of Zu-Vendis a hidden kingdom ruled by a beautiful and mysterious queen named Nyleptha. The kingdom is threatened by the impending invasion of the Matabele a fierce warrior tribe led by the ruthless chief Mameena. As Quatermain and his companions become embroiled in the conflict they also uncover the secrets of the ghost kings ancient rulers of Zu-Vendis who are said to have supernatural powers. The novel explores themes of adventure loyalty romance and the clash of civilizations. The Ghost Kings showcases Haggards talent for creating thrilling narratives set in exotic locales and his vivid descriptions of African landscapes.
