The Gift

In 1784 a young African girl Tabla Ramla is captured for the slave trade. Unknown to her captors she has the ability of prescience and is able to predict the future. Captain Thomas Morton of the British ship Commerce discovers her ability enroute to Charleston South Carolina when she alerts him to an approaching hurricane. The ship crew and three hundred slaves are saved from sure tragedy when the captain changes course to avert the storm. Recognizing Tabla’s ability the captain takes her to London where she resides for eight years. Follow Tabla and THE GIFT as it passes generation through generation to colonial America the Civil War sharecropping in Alabama and Tennessee into present day Chicago and New York.
