The Godfather IV

<p>The novel is a sequel to the Godfather Trilogy. It presents the saga of the notorious Corleone family as a metaphor for American capitalism. In other words the novel seeks to illuminate the rise of a new underworld figure; one shaped by the tumultuous events that have transformed the world over the past three decades including the dissolution of the Soviet Union the Gulf War the September 11 attacks and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The Godfather IV portrays the ascent of Robert Corleone its protagonist and the profound transformations in his turbulent life: from a decent warmhearted young man and an exceptionally gifted student to a brutish street fighter and a cold-blooded murderer who ultimately becomes the future head of the most powerful mafia family in the world.</p>
