<p>When Sam's parents were killed-his mother in a hit-and-run his father during a mysterious meeting with a known criminal-he was adopted by his father's former LAPD partner and friend Doug his wife Maggie and their daughter Iris.</p><p>It took a while for things to settle down. For Iris and Sam life seemed promising except for their continuing troubles at school-hell.</p><p>But when the past returned to haunt Sam and his adoptive family everything he thought he knew about his parents and their deaths was worse than just a lie.</p>
