The Greater Power

The story follows a central character usually a man of determination and skill placed in a situation where his physical strength and willpower are tested to their limits. It opens with a description of the character’s situation which could be a remote and challenging environment—typical of Bindloss’s preferred settings such as the wilderness the frontier or colonial territories. This character often faces both external dangers and internal struggles.The protagonist is often confronted with a seemingly insurmountable challenge—be it a battle with nature a struggle against an opponent or a personal conflict with an unyielding fate. Over the course of the story the character comes to realize that while human strength and resourcefulness are important there are forces at play that are far beyond human control—forces that might be described as fate divine intervention or nature's overwhelming power.
