The Gulistan (or Golestan) is a collection of poetry and prose written by the Persian poet and writer Sa'di (also spelled as Saadi or Sadi) in the 13th century. Sa'di was a renowned Persian poet and Sufi mystic and The Gulistan is considered one of his masterpieces. The Gulistan is written in classical Persian and consists of various stories allegories and anecdotes that offer moral and ethical lessons. The book covers a wide range of themes including wisdom ethics social conduct and the human condition. It is revered for its timeless wisdom and insights into human nature. As for Edward Rehatsek he was a 19th-century Hungarian physician and translator. He is known for translating several Persian literary works into English including some of Sa'di's works. However he did not write The Gulistan of Sa'di as it is an original work by Sa'di.
