The Hadith

The Hadith refers to a collection of sayings actions and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad which are considered a primary source of guidance and law in Islam. These sayings and actions are recorded in collections known as Hadith collections. One of the most well-known and respected compilations of Hadith is Sahih al-Bukhari compiled by Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari (810–870 CE). This collection is considered one of the most authentic and authoritative collections of Hadith in Sunni Islam. Sahih means authentic or sound indicating that the narrations in this collection are rigorously scrutinized for their authenticity and reliability. Imam al-Bukhari dedicated a significant portion of his life to traveling studying and verifying the authenticity of Hadith narrations. His collection is known for its meticulous standards in selecting narrations and for the thoroughness of his methodology in assessing the reliability of narrators.
