The Haunted Bookshop

<p><strong>The Haunted Bookshop</strong> by Christopher Morley (1919) is a charming sequel to <em>Parnassus on Wheels</em>. The story is set in a secondhand bookstore in Brooklyn owned by Roger Mifflin and his wife Helen. Although the shop is not literally haunted Roger calls it haunted because it is filled with the spirit of great literature and the wisdom of authors past.</p><p>The novel combines gentle humor literary reflection and a touch of mystery when a young advertising man Aubrey Gilbert becomes involved in a plot surrounding a missing book that may conceal a secret related to World War I espionage.
