When I decided to volunteer for a worthy cause I never thought that my volunteer work would become a second career. Volunteering in hospitals and care centres is not always about the ailing and the dying. Through the years I have met some of the most hilarious memorable seniors who have a no-holds-barred attitude when it comes to expressing their thoughts about anything. The rewarding work of a volunteer is not without its moments of grief such as that experienced when losing someone who has become more than a stranger but after nearly forty years of community service the people I have had the privilege to know have shown me how to live my life to the fullest and how to prepare myself to leave this mortal coil.
