About The Book

Omega-3 fatty acids are known to be beneficial supplements and can benefit ones health. This book is an updated thesis that was presented to Clayton College of Natural Health in 2004 and discusses the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids in inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome. In addtion to explaining what these substances are and how they work in the human body actual studies are discussed that show the benefits that these fatty acids may have in cases of IBD and IBS. Anti-inflammatory properties as well as changes in serotonin signalling with the use of omega-3s are discussed as well as the dangers of taking medications for these disorders. The omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to have many benefits in inflammatory conditions and may be useful supplements in the treatment of these digestive disorders.
