A nuclear winter has enveloped America over the past four years leaving the population without electricity food water and peace. However in the small town of Bisbee Milo has managed to keep things mostly operational. He intends to maintain this stability until an outsider named Olive reveals that thousands of families in Phoenix are hiding from their increasingly unstable neighbors. As Milo embarks on a sincere quest to bring these families to the safety of Bisbee he uncovers the truth behind the nuclear winter and realizes he is on the losing side of a war he didn't know he was involved in-until now.
