About The Book

Many of the adventures of my friend Mr Sherlock Holmes the consulting detective in which I was privileged to assist him I have recorded elsewhere. There were however a number of instances when sometimes for reasons of his own which I could not fathom he expressly forbade me to forward others for publication.

Recently perhaps as a result of the effect on him of the passing of our dear Queen he has become less stringent and relented on some of his previous prohibitions. I am therefore now able to relate the details of the following enquiries to the public. John H. Watson. 1901.

The Adventure of the African Prospector

The Adventure of the Cheerful Prisoner

The Adventure of the Doubtful Conviction

The Adventure of the Invisible Weapon

The Adventure of the Substitute Murder

The Adventure of the Unknown Traitor

The Adventure of the Serpent's Head
