The History of Alexander the Great

Originally published in 1889 this book by the highly esteemed Orientalist Ernest Wallis Budge is an edition of the Syriac version of the text by Pseudo-Callisthenes on the life of Alexander the Great one of the earliest histories of the great Macedonian general. Also included are a brief biography of Alexander an assessment of the varying versions of the Alexander story and a copy of the Syriac source text with scholarly footnotes and comparisons among the various manuscripts.
