The history of forest engineering

About The Book

The first forestry teaching practices come from China from the end of the 15th century. However it was in Germany in the city of Zillbach in 1786 that the first School of Forestry was created. In 1811 the School was transferred to the city of Tharandt receiving the title of Forestry Academy which years later would be elevated to the category of Royal Academy of Saxony. In 1825 the University of Gissem was created; already in 1830 the Academy of Eberswald and the Forest Academy of Eisenach were created; shortly afterwards three more Universities Carlsruhe Munich and Tubigem were established. Today every European country has at least one Faculty of Forest Engineering. The first Faculty of Forestry in the Americas was established in 1895 in the city of Baltimore Maryland USA.
