THE HISTORY OF THE DECATUR ILLINOIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

This historical work details the policing of a Midwest city of 50000 population during the first half of The Roaring Twenties. Walk the beats with the officers of the city as a relatively quiet community copes with rising crime during the Prohibition Era of United States history. From humorous incidents to the court-ordered execution of a murderer the police department experiences a multitude of changes to combat the bootlegging and violence that it generated. This work follows three previous volumes which covered the years from 1856 through 1919.
