One of the most enigmatic characters to grace the pages of the Masoretic Text of 1 Samuel is a character called Doeg דאג האדמי. He bore the title avir har'oim leshaul אביר הרעים לשאול or mighty one of the shepherds of Saul. His act of reporting on David's visit to the house of Ahimelech or Nob led to the trial of the leader of the priests and the execution of their Levitical community in accordance with the prophetic word spoken by an anonymous eish ha elohim.
